Scripture and Art

Session 2 • Scripture • Devotional

Countless stories, scenes and characters from the Bible have been recreated and imagined by artists in various mediums - through music, painting and spoken word. When engaging with scripture becomes dry or tedious, it can sometimes be helpful to take a fresh approach by engaging with scripture visually, orally or using our own imaginations and creative expression.

Here you will find art related to various passages of scripture. Spend some time reading the passage and then meditating on the art associated with that passage. You might find it helpful to reflect using the following prompts:

  • How does this art connect with the scripture?
  • What thoughts, questions or emotions emerge in me as I reflect on this art?
