Session 1 • Prayer • Activation
We have reflected and taken stock of our current rhythms, rituals and habits. How we begin and end our days can have a huge impact on how we feel throughout the day. What might it look like for you to start and end your day with an awareness of God’s presence?
For the purpose of this reflection, consider your morning to be the time that exists between you waking and you or anyone else in your home being up, dressed and ready to begin whatever the day entails.
Evaluate what your average morning currently looks like:
You might find it helpful to make some lists, for example:
Things that need to happen:
— Shower,
— Eat breakfast,
— Work out,
— Make lunch(es),
— Make my bed,
— Prayer/Bible reading
Things that I would like to happen:
— A workout,
— Time to enjoy a cup of coffee,
— Time to read or pray
In re-imagining your morning rhythm which of these do you want to include? Consider roughly how much time you want to give to each item. What time would you need to wake up at, in order to have the morning that you would like to have? Can any of these activities be done the night before in order to make it more possible to have the morning you want?
Make a note of what you want your morning rhythm to look like and for the next few days try to commit to living this out and reflecting on what impact the changes have.
For the purpose of this reflection, consider your evening to be the time that exists between after eating dinner and going to sleep.
